Travel Crush Tips and Tricks
Whether you just picked up Travel Crush or you’ve been playing for a while, here are some tips to make your journey through the world a lot smoother.
1. Use Power-Ups
More than just your typical tile on the board, Power-ups help you clear each stage quickly. Some of them can be made while playing, while others can be activated before or during your levels.
Power-ups will remove tiles and blockers in a pattern unique to each one. In fact, some items can ONLY be removed using Power-ups (a Pinata, for example).
HINT: Power-ups on the board do not need to be swiped with another tile to use it! You can tap on it and the boost will activate in that spot.
Crafting Power-ups
These are the Power-ups that you can create on the board by matching tiles in a pattern:
Rocket
- Using a Rocket will break a full line of tiles, either straight up and down or left and right, depending on which way the Rocket’s arrows point.
- Create a Rocket by matching 4 tiles in a row. Vertical lines will create the left and right Rockets, while horizontal lines will create the up and down Rockets.
Bomb
- Activating a Bomb breaks a square of tiles within two spaces from the Bomb (25 spots in total).
- Make a Bomb by matching tiles 5 tiles in an L-shape or a T-shape.
Bolt
- The master of all Power-ups, swiping a Bolt with any other tile will remove ALL of those tiles from the board.
You can also tap it and it will remove all of one color tiles on the board at random. - The most difficult to create, you will have to match 5 tiles in a row to craft a Bolt.
Propeller
- Tap or swipe a Propeller to activate it, and it will destroy the 4 tiles nearby and then spin to another spot on the board to destroy it.
- Propellers are more likely to target a tile or an Obstacle needed to complete the level.
- Craft a Propeller by matching 4 (or 5) tiles in a square.
Combo Power-ups
Swap two side by side Power-ups on the board to create a powerful reaction to break tiles in different patterns.
Rocket and Rocket
- Breaks a line both horizontally and vertically.
Bomb and Bomb
- Breaks a square of tiles even bigger than just one Bomb.
Bolt and Bolt
- Breaks all tiles on the screen once.
Rocket and Bomb
- Breaks three lines of tiles both horizontally and vertically.
Rocket and Bolt
- Replaces random tiles on the board with Rockets shoots them off!
Bomb and Bolt
- Replaces random tiles on the board with Bombs and they all blow up!
Propeller and Propeller
Two Propellers will change to THREE, and each will target a different spot on the board.
Propeller and Rocket
The combo will swirl towards a target on the board and detonate like a Rocket.
HINT: The Rocket will shoot off in the same direction as the Rocket you had matched with.
Propeller and Bomb
The combo will spin towards a targeted tile and explode like a Bomb.
Propeller and Bolt
The most common color tile on the board will transform into a Propeller and activate.
TIP: The initial Propeller will not hit the four closest tiles when combined with another Power-up
TIP: Save moves by hitting a Rocket or Bomb with another Rocket or Bomb to activate it!
A Bolt will not be activated by any other Power-Up! (unlike some other Match-3 games!)
Other Boosters
These Boosters cannot be created on the board so they will need to be acquired in other ways.
Hammer
- Tap a Hammer to clear any one item.
- Even though you can’t create this one on the board, you can still get them in other aspects of the game like sharing Tripstagram posts and buying with Gold, as well as other places.
- Look for the Hammers on the bottom of the screen with a number showing how many you have in inventory.
SuperBoost
- To fill up the Superboost you’ll need to use Power-ups while playing a level.
- Then, you can activate your full Superboost to break 12% of the visible tiles on the board.
BONUS BOOSTER
This one can be found in certain levels, and while it’s not technically a “booster” it helps you out!
Skunk
- Match near a Skunk and this stinky mammal will remove tiles or blockers to help towards your goal!
2. Start From the Bottom (if possible)
Most boards will drop from the top to the bottom, with some exceptions. Not only will starting at the bottom move the most tiles on the board but could also help remove blockers and create matches all over the board just from the movement of tiles.
Blockers
Remove all obstacles that prevent you from getting to the bottom of the board.
Ticking Bombs
This would be one of the exceptions to starting from the bottom. These must be destroyed BEFORE the time is up, or you will lose the level and a life!
Portals
The bottom may not always be at the bottom of the screen. Portals could move your tiles from one place to another, so analyze the board to see where the true “bottom” is.
3. Don’t Forget Your Goals
Each level will have Goals that you need to complete to beat the level. It’s easy to see Crates and Balloons on your board and go straight to removing them. However, your Goals could be Balloons and Yellow Tiles! Don’t waste time and moves to destroy Crates instead of just what is covered in the Goals section.
Other Agendas
Look for these other objectives while playing levels:
Didi the Pick-Pocketer
Unlock at Level 52.
- Collect the tiles with a hat on the corner to fill up Didi’s bar and unleash him on other players. He will steal their gems and double your rewards for that level.
Events
Each event has a special mission, which could require you to break a certain color of tile or even use certain Power-ups. Check out the event tab on the top right of the map screen for more information. Sometimes the event can be a simple bar on the top of the map screen that will show you what you need to get points. Score high in events for even more rewards!
4. Replay Levels for More
To Restore the Wonders of the Cities, you will need to collect Bronze, Silver, and Gold stars.
Wonders are on levels that end in 0.
Classic
Play the level for the first time to collect Bronze Stars and unlock the Hard difficulty for that level.

Super-Hard

Just because you completed your Goals doesn’t mean you’re done earning points!
Superboost
First, if you have a full Superboost, it will activate when you’ve completed your Goals
Power-ups
Next, any remaining Power-ups on the board will go off, netting you even more points.
Bonus Time!
Last, random tiles on the board will be changed to Power-ups based on how many moves you have left.
PRO-TIP: To get more points, complete your Goals using as few moves as possible, a full Superboost, as well as leaving unused Power-ups on the board.
7. Make Friends
Friends make your trip so much more enjoyable! More friends mean more in-game benefits.
- Invite friends from inside the game using the Discover tab in the Social menu.
This list will update every so often, so check back to get more friends.
- Send out Facebook invites or text your IRL friends to join the game.
This will send them a link to play!
- Join the Facebook VIP Group (LINK)
Get friends that already play to join your group.
Send and receive gifts from your friends which could include Gold, Diamonds, Lives, and more!
TIP: Remove inactive friends to add more friends!
- Click on the Social button on the bottom right.
- In the Friends tab, click on the Send button.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the friend list, where you will find the least active.
- Swipe left and click on the Delete button.
Now you can add more active friends that will send you more gifts!
The current friend limit is 100.
8. Participate in Events and Tournaments
If you’re playing, you’re already participating! Collect the items by playing any of the levels.
Events
Collect items to get points towards the events. These can be Power-ups, certain colored tiles, or even special tiles located in each level.
League Event (streak)
Collect the items in a streak of level winning to place on the leaderboard. If you lose a level, you will lose all your progress in the event! If you feel confident in the points that you’ve earned, you can confirm your points. That will hold your current score and you will start over with a new streak.
TIP: You can confirm again if you score higher!
If you’re one of the top players in your League, you will receive special prizes and get promoted to a higher League!
- Stone
- Bronze
- Silver
- Golden
- Fire
The top prizes are better in the higher Leagues!
Weekly Tournament
Complete levels to earn Trophies towards the weekly tournament. Top prizes are awarded for placing highest in the Country and the World!
Check your progress by opening the Tournament icon on the left side of the map screen.
9. Know Your Currency
Earn and spend the in-game currency wisely!
Gems
- Earn Gems by collecting gifts from friends, helping out the Locals, or even by buying currency packs in the store.
- Use Gems to speed up the time it takes to restore a Wonder. Later levels have a longer timer for restoration.
Be careful, other players can send Didi the Monkey to steal your precious gems!
Gold
- There are a lot of places to grab Gold! Completing levels, friend gifts, and even requesting friends will net you some Gold!
- Spend Gold to Spin the Wheel after losing a level if it hasn’t been 30 minutes since your last spin.
- TIP: The cost to spin decreases as the timer winds down, so if you only have a few minutes left, it won’t cost quite as much.
- Use gold to buy in-game pack offers after you lose a level.
- Gold can also be used to get +5 moves after a level, but it’s expensive at 900 Gold and EASY to accidentally click it, so be careful after you lose a level! It is worth it if you are running low on lives, have tried to beat a level multiple times, and you were just so close…
